Orlando MUAY THAI

About ORLANDO MUAY THAI Classes

For students who want to supplement their jiu-jitsu training with striking, Gracie Barra offers Orlando Muay Thai classes on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Muay Thai is a combat sport that originated in Thailand which uses stand-up striking and clinching techniques. Also known as “the art of eight limbs” Muay Thai combines fists, elbows, knees, and shins for striking attacks.

Our classes are open to all members from beginners to advanced. The instructor will adjust combinations for all levels. Students will learn stance, footwork, punches, kicks, knees, elbows and the defenses to these techniques.

The classes are also used to build up cardio fitness and strength.

Do I need experience?

Prior experience is not required. Our students experience levels range from absolute beginner to advanced.

Do I need to be in shape to start training Muay Thai?

While it does help to be in good shape, it is not a requirement. Classes are structured so you can participate at your own pace. As you progress, your conditioning will improve and you'll be able to do more. Before you know it you'll be in shape.

How much does does Muay Thai training cost?

Pricing varies depending on which membership package you choose. We recommend visiting us and watching a class first. If you like what you see, try a free class. Afterward you can get pricing and membership information.

Will training Muay Thai help me lose weight?

Training Muay Thai can absolutely help in weight loss. It is a full body, cardio workout that can burn up to 1000 calories per training session. Additional benefits include incresase of strength and flexibility and improved balance. There are, of course, other variables to consider. These include effort and intensity of your training as well as overall diet.

Is there a chance I will get hurt while practicing martial arts?

Our instructors ensure that we always provide safe training environments to all of our students. That being said, there is always a small chance of injury associated with any physical activity, including martial arts.  We begin classes with a guided warmup and stretching to make sure the body is ready for physical activity. We also begin with basic movements and drill before moving onto more strenuous movements. This process cuts down on many of the common injuries experienced in martial arts.

Do I have to spar against other students in class?

While sparring is a  valuable tool for improving your abilities, it is not required. You will never be forced or pressured to engage in sparring or any activities that make you uncomfortable. You can progress at your own pace and continue learning in a safe, positive environment.
